Full-timeSan FranciscoTwo-year tour

Cubbie in print and everywhere else it gets read: what we publish, how often, and whose hands it reaches.

Cubbie is going to print. A physical magazine a software buyer keeps on a desk, and around it whatever else earns the attention: the newsletter, the video, the report people forward to somebody else.

You own all of it. What each issue is about, who writes it, how it looks, how it gets printed, and how it reaches the right hands rather than a warehouse. Print is the hard part and that is exactly why it is the plan. Anyone can publish a post. Almost nobody sends something worth keeping.

The raw material is already here. Cubbie knows what software costs, what companies run, and where the market is moving. What is missing is somebody who can turn that into an issue a person finishes and then passes to the person next to them.

This takes taste and it takes logistics, and it takes both from the same person. A beautiful magazine that misses its date is not a magazine.

The tour

This role runs as a two-year tour. That is the term on both sides. Near the end of it we sit down together and decide whether to run another one.

You will know in your first week what the tour is for: what you own, what has to be true by the end of it, and how that is measured.

By day ninety

Issue one planned end to end: the stories, the writers, the design, the printer, the date, and the list it goes out to.

A publishing calendar for the year that the rest of the company can plan against, with dates that hold.

The regular channels running to a schedule instead of running when somebody remembers.

And a first issue in hand, or a signed printer and a locked date if the paper lands after day ninety.

A page, a repository, a product, a post, an account.

How you would actually work. Short answers are fine.

How much of your working week would Cubbie have?
How far would you move for this?
