VP, Games and Growth

Full-timeSan FranciscoTwo-year tour

The reason somebody opens Cubbie on a day they are not buying anything.

Most people buy software a handful of times a year. Cubbie needs a reason to be opened on all the other days, and games are that reason.

Think of what LinkedIn did with its daily puzzles. Small, sharp, finished in a few minutes, and worth coming back for tomorrow. Yours are built out of what Cubbie knows: software, what it costs, who runs what, and how good anybody really is at guessing any of it.

You own the whole loop. The idea, the design, the difficulty, the streak, the thing worth sharing, and what all of it does for the rest of the platform. A game everyone plays once and never returns to is a hobby, which is why growth is in the title: you are judged on the people who come back, and on what they do once they are here.

You will work with engineering to ship it and with the catalog for the material. The judgement about what is actually fun is yours alone, and it is the part that cannot be delegated.

The tour

This role runs as a two-year tour. That is the term on both sides. Near the end of it we sit down together and decide whether to run another one.

You will know in your first week what the tour is for: what you own, what has to be true by the end of it, and how that is measured.

By day ninety

One game live, played by people who do not work here, with return visits measured honestly from the first day.

A second and third idea tested far enough to be judged, and the ones that do not hold anybody's attention dropped rather than nursed.

A clear read on who plays, what they do next on Cubbie, and how many of them are still playing a week later.

And a shipping rhythm for the next ones that does not depend on you being in the room.

Build your package

This role is $125,000 a year, and you decide how much of it arrives as salary, as a bonus, or as ownership. Pick a starting shape, then move the sliders until it looks like the offer you want. What you build here goes to us with your application. Nothing here is an offer.

Apply

One page. Five questions, a short block on how you work, and a link to something you built or grew. There is no resume to attach and nothing to upload.

A page, a repository, a product, a post, an account.

Hyper-compatible fit

How you would actually work. Short answers are fine.

How much of your working week would Cubbie have?
How far would you move for this?
This role runs as a two-year tour. Where do you land on that?
