Turso is an edge database platform built on libSQL, an open-source fork of SQLite. The platform replicates databases to edge locations globally, providing sub-10ms read latency by placing data close to users wherever they are.
The embedded replicas feature allows applications to sync a local SQLite replica that handles reads with zero network latency, while writes go to the primary database and propagate to replicas automatically. This architecture is particularly powerful for read-heavy workloads.
