Statement of Work (SOW)
A scoped document attached to a master agreement that specifies deliverables, timeline, and price for a specific engagement.
SOWs are common in professional services contracts, implementation engagements, and customer success packages. The Master Services Agreement (MSA) handles the legal frame; the SOW handles the specifics of one engagement. Buyers should review SOWs as carefully as MSAs, because most cost overruns originate in vague SOW deliverables that the vendor later interprets as out of scope.
